MGB STANDARDIZED CHECKLIST

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Regional Office 1 conducted an orientation for permit holders on the standardized checklist for the monitoring of tenements and safety, health, environmental and social development programs last May 17-18, 2018 at Oasis Country Resort, San Fernando City, La Union which was attended by 70 participants from various companies with approved Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA), Mineral Processing Permit (MPP) and Industrial Sand and Gravel Permit (ISAG).

Philex-Poro representatives were Engr. Herman Daluyon, Poro Operations Head/ Safety Engineer and Ms. Catherine Pangan, Pollution Control Officer/ Community Relations Officer.

The different topics and resource persons were as follows:

1) Tenement Monitoring Checklist and Compliance Scorecard (Exploration, Operation, ISAG) by Engr. Roel A.  Collado, Chief Monitoring and Technical Services Section;

2) Community Development Program (Exploration Period), Social Development and Management Program (Development/ Utilization/ Operating Period) and Social Development Section Monitoring Checklist and Compliance Scorecard by Engr. Rogelio M. Faminialagao, Chief, Social Development Section

3) Annual Safety and Health Program (Exploration and Operating Period) and Mine Safety and Health Section Monitoring Checklist and Compliance Scorecard by Engr. Macario C.  Asunto, OIC, Mine Safety and Health Section

4) Environmental Work Program (Exploration), Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program, Final Mine Rehabilitation and/or Decommissioning Plan, Care and Maintenance Program and Mine Environmental Management Section Monitoring Checklist and Compliance Scorecard by Engr. Ruben G.  Soriano, Chief, Mine Environmental Management Section and Engr. Christopher John V. Orteza, Science Research Specialist II

The standardized checklist and scorecard will be used by the MGB in monitoring the compliance of each company with the different programs.
